Abstraction (Latin: to deduct, remove, separate) separates an object, an action or a phenomenon from its context. Objectification makes it mass-compatible while destroying its original context.
The stripes of barcodes slice up terms. „MONOTOLY“, „MILICINE“ and „MEDITARY“ , as hybrid terms, are double-fragmented and point to potent propaganda sections. The appropriation techniques shown here – surveying, clipping, limiting – exponentiate further fragmentation. Accumulation of property depends on the camouflage of power. To this end, both phenomena use abstraction as an instrument of structural violence.
